K-12 Education Industry Veteran Selected to Head San Antonio-Based Publisher
SAN ANTONIO, Feb. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- PCI Education, a leading publisher of supplemental education products for students with special needs and learning differences, announces it has selected Lee Wilson as President and CEO. Wilson will oversee operations, product development, sales, marketing, and strategic goals for the company.
"Lee Wilson has extensive experience in the K-12 publishing sector," said Janie Haugen-McLane, PCI co-founder. "Lee has the right mix of skills and industry knowledge to lead PCI's sales, marketing, and product development to ensure the company's continued success. His belief that all educational products should be a blend of print and technology makes Lee the perfect fit for our future growth."
McLane, who co-founded the company with her husband, Jeffrey T. McLane, will continue to lead product development for PCI and serve on the PCI Board.
"What attracted me to PCI is the company's unique approach to teaching basic academic and life skills," said Wilson. "One of the company's recent introductions, the PCI Reading Program, has been recognized industry-wide for changing the way special education students learn to read, which speaks to the growth potential for PCI, especially given the focus on special education instruction in the recently passed federal stimulus bill."
The PCI Reading Program is a research-based curriculum proven to be very effective in teaching students with developmental disabilities, autism and significant learning disabilities how to read.
Wilson is an active participant in the K-12 education industry, which he writes about at The Education Business Blog, the number-one blog about educational publishing. In addition, Wilson serves on the Board of The Association of Educational Publishers and is a former member of the Education Division Board for the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA). He has researched and written many articles and reports, most recently "Best Practices for Using Games & Simulations in the Classroom: Guidelines for K-12 Educators," published by SIIA in January 2009.
Wilson has more than 20 years of experience in the K-12 sector. Prior to joining PCI, Wilson operated Headway Strategies, an Austin-based management consulting firm focused on the education industry. Earlier, he was Vice President, Marketing and Chief Marketing Officer at Harcourt Achieve in Austin. Previously, Wilson served as Regional Vice President of Pearson Learning Group, and General Manager of K12Planet.com at Chancery Software. In his seven years at Apple Computer, Wilson held a variety of positions, including Business Development Manager and K-12 Enterprise Solutions Marketing Specialist.
Wilson earned a master's of business administration degree from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and a bachelor's degree in history and political science from Princeton University.
